"A.L.O.M Episode 3: Underearth" Release

Hey, y'all.

Hope you're all doing well.

Okay, okay. I'm gonna keep it real.
I procrastinated way too long to finish this chapter in the A.L.O.M. adventure. I know.
Considering that I wrote the very first story in 2014, I should be ashamed of myself for waiting 6 years to write the 3rd part. The worst of it all is that it's a short story! Shame on me! For shame, Y. Correa! For shame!

Okay, now that I have beaten myself with a stick for tarrying on this release ...

It was the year 2014, midsummer.
Lying in her bed was a lowly author who was binge watching Ancient Aliens on Hulu. This was one of her favorite things to do next to binge watching Doctor Who on Netflix.
There she was, munching on popcorn whilst the she lay; the popcorn bowl sitting on her chest. Periodically a kernel would fall in to unmentionable places. She cared not to fish it out. She could save those for later should she get a hankering for a treat.
Soon, her eyelids fluttered with drowsiness, the popcorn bowl teetering, threatening to fall over completely. As she dozed, she heard the prominent voice of the Ancient Aliens narrator as it proclaimed, "Ancient aliens theorists say yes ...!" In that instant her Muse simultaneously tapped her on the shoulders and whispered in her ear, "What if ancient aliens were actually time travelers from the future?"
Raptured with inspiration—and actually quite startled because the lowly author thought she was alone in the room—she jumped to a seated position, a single digit in the air as the epiphany came alive. The popcorn bowl went flying to who knows where.
"Yes!" she trumpeted, "Yes, yes and yessss! That's a phenomenal idea!"
Her parents who were in the other room yelled at her to keep it down.
Cowering, "Oops" she muttered. Shrugging it off she got up, turned on her computer and pecked away at the obnoxiously loud keyboard.
And so it was that "A.L.O.M." the short story saga began.

Blurb:

The year is 2130. Long gone are the days of high definition television and rock and roll. Mankind has entered the greatest age of technology. Vlad Kappel is a man of few words and even fewer desires, one of them being a dream to pilot the world's first time machine which he has helped to invent and build. A fan of the eons old television show Ancient Aliens, Vlad has always been intrigued by the ideas of time and space travel. When he is suddenly and unexpectedly given the opportunity to live out his secret dream the results are astounding ... and none too coincidental.

Blurb:

Vlad’s travel aspirations should have been a dream come true. Yet the reality of his scholars’ teachings concerning the ancients is quite sobering. A.L.O.M. is in need of dire repair and lack of technology, industrial science and language barrier prove hefty challenges for Vlad. Will he gain cooperation from the ancients to save him from this travesty or will the final destination remain Stranded?

And now, without further ado, it is my pleasure to introduce you to "A.L.O.M. Episode 3: Underearth".

Blurb

At this point in his adventure Vlad wants nothing more than to get back home. However, with the advanced technology with which the A.L.O.M. was created, Vlad realizes that he is in a pickle. In order to make the A.L.O.M. run he needs fuel. Not just any fuel. Lava.
With the help of the princess Vlad endeavors to seek exactly that. It is this enterprise that leads him Underearth.

Today and everyday you can read the first three books of the ongoing A.L.O.M. collection for free by visiting the link below. Enjoy!

And ...

HAPPY SHORT STORY MONTH!

About "Dimensions of Literary Seduction"

I was thinking about "Dimensions of Literary Seduction" and which of the stories is my favorite. I often get asked which one of my stories out of everything I have written throughout the years is my favorite. Asking an author said question is like asking a parent which one of their kids is their favorite. It's impossible to choose. But, I will say that I am inclined to "prefer" (using the term loosely) one story over others. Not because it is my favorite per say, but because of the premise of the story.
Contrary to what people might think, my most esteemed story among the collection would have to be the shortest, "The G Particle".
Here is why ...

In order to best explain my answer I suppose I would have to rewind the clock about 5 years.

The thing the precipitated the writing of "The G Particle" was a dare between a small group of authors and myself to write a Micro-Short story (also known as Flash Fiction) with a sense of depth in less than 500 words. While the version that you will see today in "Dimensions of Literary Seduction" is a bit longer, believe it or not, the original story totaled 499 words.

Truth be told, I have gotten a mix of good and bad reviews about "The G Particle". And, while I appreciate both views, I am inclined to believe that the bad ones come from the fact that some people cannot understand the concept of a Micro-Short.
Micro-Short stories are meant to make you think, nothing more and nothing less. In contrast to full length short stories, novellas/novelettes and full length novels, the micro-short is an altogether different entity.

The notion of "The G Particle" came to me from 3 places:

(1) The question, "What is the meaning of life?"
(2) My love for Science Fiction
(3) The query of how the Universe is intertwined.

Thus, the idea of a Computer Programmer with an apparently "boring" life was born.
In come G.

G is very much your average guy. He works, questions the Universe, in fascinated by seemingly inconsequential things, comes home and does it all over again every day. Nothing in G's life seems to have any meaning or purpose. So, he speculates. It's the only thing that satiates his need to know. More so, to connect to something bigger. But, as luck would have it, G can't seem to find that sense of belonging or nexus.
G, to me, represents the larger populous ... we all need to feel a sense of connection to someone or something. Whether it be the Universe, a person, family or even nature, we all want to belong to something greater. It's the link that binds us.
In "The G Particle", however, I use the Higgs Boson, better known as "The God Particle" to make the ultimate connection between man and God. But, I also leave the story open for interpretation at the end.
Personally, in my mind's eye, I like to image the Multiple Mirror System as the sum of the story.

This idea poses the question, "Who is the Creator and who is the Created?" It's makes for a fascinating theory. The ideology that the Universe is a continuum; a string of Creator and Created, never to cease or be discovered in absolution.
It is this reason why "The G Particle" is such a fascinating story to me. On the surface, it doesn't seem like much of anything, but at its core "The G Particle" asks the questions, "Who is the true manipulator at the string of our lives? Is it our choices, or something else entirely?"

Well, there you have it, folks. My answer to the aforementioned question, "Which is my favorite story in 'Dimensions of Literary Seduction'?"

Now ...

"Dimensions of Literary Seduction" will be officially released tomorrow ...

My Works: Part 1

Okay, so I told myself the other day that the best way to realize what I can accomplish is by looking back at what I've achieved.

So, in celebration of myself, I've decided to make a series of blog posts which focus on the works I've published to date. Woot!

giphyWith that said ...

tumblr_mslir20DOn1sh28k6o1_250red_page_divider_by_cougar28-d4vppotToday, I'll be listing my short stories.

cooltext176497280422019RyanExcerpt:

I think he's perfect. Maybe not like movie star perfect, but he's perfect for me. There's something about how his blond, loose curls bounce around when he walks, and how those sapphire blues pierce right through a person when he looks at them. He walks around perpetually wearing a white wife beater and black pants, which showcases his fine ass body, juuuust the right amount. Sexy, without trying too hard. You know?

Yeah. Like he'd ever notice me. Five foot tall, average build, brown eyed, plain old me. There's nothing special about me, I don't think. I'm the girl that friends refer to in that all too familiar, "Oh Minnie? Yes. Minnie is great. She has the best personality!" Mhm. That's me. Sparkling personality girl.
As my uncle used to say—retired sailor—Fuck me running! Girls like me, don't get guys like him. Only in our dreams.

Thus my infinitly reoccurring “make-out session” dream. Funny though, how dreams like those are just enough to keep us going—they keep our hope alive somehow. At least until reality sets in, then you have the dream all over again, and strength returns. Like a never-freaking-ending cycle. One I could happily do without. The last thing I need is to lollygag in La-la-land. Right? Right!

LTExcerpt:

Our romance was your atypical teenage whirlwind romance. Two hormonal teens, reeking amorous and horny teen havoc all over the place while in private, and being the two best examples of teenage life in public.

But like with all great teen romances, it ultimately ended in a lagoon of tears, two buckets of chocolate ice cream, a few bum-rushed tissue boxes, a few calls to my best friend and a marathon of romedies.

There were of course the few rebounds, but nothing of substance.

camielleExcerpt:

Wispy ringlets danced in the sky in a million different colors—some unrecognizable. Soft blue and majestic puffy cotton-balls filled the space behind it. A backdrop of celestial azure with a rainbow of circles aplenty curtaining atop. A single sphere of bright light swayed to and fro above it. A luminescent orb with a life of its own.

Eyes lucidly followed the orb and gazes became hypnotized by the labyrinthine magic of the lights. What was it? Never in written history did anyone ever witness the likes of this, and never would they in years to come. A once in a lifetime event for those lucky enough to see its splendor.

Camielle wasn't paying much mind to the lights like all the others; her mind was fixed on the multitudes' reactions to the  unknown. While some were amazed and enamored by the lights, the others watched in fear—the uncharted always caused fear. Such an unusual thing, the human mind, Camielle surmised.

TGPExcerpt:

The clicking sound of G's laptop when it opened was so very familiar. For the oddest of reasons G found solace in it. At times he almost felt as if his computer were an extension of himself. Then again, he was a Computer Programmer specializing in Video Game Design. So in a manner of speaking the computer indeed was an extension of him.

Today, like everyday in his life G got up, got ready for work, caught the number 7 north bound bus to Randolph Street, crossed the road and walked into the enormous building that housed his employment. He hated the morning commute. The redundancy therein made him sigh in contempt. However, this was his reality and he might as well deal with it.

Just like he did everyday, G went to the break-room, fixed himself a cup of coffee. Cream, no sugar. Trekked to his cubicle and plopped on the chair to start his mornings labors. Not that this type of work could really be considered labor—but work was work, and he got to fiddle with what he loved the most, so it was good.

alomExcerpt:

Posed over his desk, with a single desk lamp switched on and loads of wires, tools, papers and gismos, he fiddled with his current project. Vlad kept the television running in the background just to hear it. Fiddling as he worked his glasses slipped to the tip of his pointy nose, his curly chocolate hair was soaked with sweat and stuck to his face. With a knuckle he pushed his glasses to the bridge of his nose. The sweat droplets made him blink his enormous brown eyes, then a small puff of exasperation escaped his full lips. Still he continued with undeterred focus on his current task.

Vlad spent his entire adult carreer working with scientists, chononaut physicists and engineers in crafting the first ever time travel device. His full lips curled absentmindedly into a small smile when he thought that just one hundred years ago—right around the time that “Ancient Aliens” ran on a regular basis—people thought that time travel was limited to science fiction. Now, it was something especially credible. With all of the advances in science within the last one hundred years, of course it was.

As Vlad tinkered with the motherboard of the would-be time travel avionic devise, he listened.

f86fd6b4f972b504ffbd75154da0e959a2b955cdExcerpt:

Like a violent ball of fire the A.L.O.M. descended from the sky, encapsulated in smoke. The speed with which it came billowing down to the earth was ferocious. Vlad, frivolous. He went light-headed and nearly vomited due to the brutal propulsion and turbulence. Then, like a comet crashing into the earth, the A.L.O.M. collided onto soil and rock. Inertia followed rumble, which preceded thrusting and rocking. Never had Vlad experienced such a potent ride. His body could barely take the commotion.

Minutes later, after the fog in his head cleared—as well as the fog and smoke that surrounded his vehicle—Vlad tumbled out of the machine, spacesuit stained with dirt, grit and brimstone.

First his knees gave out, causing him to flop to the ground, his hands the only thing keeping Vlad from liquefying into Mother Earth's gravitational pull. Then he slowly lifted his head and floundered to remove his helmet, gasping for fresh air. Clean air.

What makes Concordant Vibrancy Different than most Short Story anthologies?

It was best described by Y. Correa, the Founder of All Authors Publications and Promotions ...

Excerpt of Concordant Vibrancy:

Once upon a time I sat under a large and old tree—the tree was surrounded by many others like it, all of them contented with one another.

I marveled at the wave of wind that passed by, which like an invisible tide drew past the trees making the leaves on them swish like the perfect choreographed symphony—first one, then swiftly and smoothly the rest followed in suit. It was an inspiring thing to behold.

I thought …

There is no better demonstration of unity than that of Mother Earth. She teaches us that all things are connected—the heavens to the earth, the earth to the ocean, the ocean to the heavens—round and round it goes, dancing without squabble in absolute unison. It truly is a beautiful thing to see.

In addition I pondered …

As the matter of fact, the bigger picture is that the entire universe is connected. Whilst our planet is the size of a marble in comparison to the enormity of our universe, that by no means makes us any less valuable. She, Mother Earth, depends on the universe and vice versa. Could you imagine the impact on our solar system if just one planet became misaligned with the rest, just the smallest bit askew? We would all feel the repercussions of that micro-movement. The surface of earth would spin out of control, ravaging humanity with a cataclysm of natural devastation.

And so, I thought further, and said to myself, “Does humanity not realize the impact they have between one another? Do they not see that one action of strife can cause a wave of destruction?”

While it is true that I do not know you, I know this; you and I are linked simply because we are inhabitants of this planet.

Why do I say these things? Because unity was the foundation of the establishment of All Authors Publications and Promotions.

A year and a half ago a thought occurred to me, it was “Why are authors competing with one another? Why can’t they just work together?” Now I’m certain that I was not the first person to think that way, and certainly not the first to act on it, but I did see that while some authors were trying to work together they were doing it in a way that rivaled one another. It was around that time that the idea of the All Authors Blog Blitz crossed my mind.

I’d done some research on Blog Blitzes, their use and aim, and I thought, we can all do that together. We can create a tidal wave of recognition if we just work together.

What I did not expect was all that would follow after the All Authors Blog Blitz. In less than a year’s time, All Authors Publications and Promotions was born. A place created by an author, for authors, trying to establish unity in this market.

In time the All Authors Magazine was born, then All Authors Graphic Design, then the All Authors Certificate of Excellence, and many more projects.

Some people ask me why I chose the name All Authors. Well, that’s pretty self-explanatory, it’s because we advocate all authors, and try to reach all readers.

So, like leaves on a tree, we are all connected.

Mother Earth, the best example of unity mankind has.

What reviewers are saying ...

Harmony Kent, Author:

"Each collection of three is different. The reader will find darker tales that make them think, those with slightly more heat under the collar, and others with a twist. Each tale is short and easy to read, and folds seamlessly into the whole. I like the alternative offerings found here, which are a bit like eating an up-market three-course meal, rather than a single TV dinner where all the flavours are the same. Chances are, this little book has something for everyone." 4 Stars
Y. Correa, Author:

"All in all, I would say that Continuous Drips is a book that you can keep on reading. Something that you can set on your nightstand and pick up whenever you're in the mood for a quick yet great read. These ladies won't let you down." 5 Stars

Short Story Relationship Round Table: Darbi, Minnie & Odette

Welcome one and all to my blog. Today I have a special treat for you all. Three very exceptional women are here to visit with you all.

Before we go on with this post, let me tell you a little bit about what we did.

Six of the members (those are Synful Desire, Da'Kharta Rising, Adonis Mann, C. Desert Rose, Y. Correa and Queen of Spades) of All Authors Publishing House came together to interview the ladies from "Ryan", "Loving ... them!" and "Handy". Each member asked a series of questions, and the ladies replied in suit.

So, here we go:

red_page_divider_by_cougar28-d4vppot

odette1. Odette, keep it real: Is a hot fuck better than a steady relationship?

Hmmm … that’s a tough one. Truth be told, sometimes it is. Let me explain. Not every man you meet is relationship material, if you know what I mean. So if I were forced to weigh my options, if they guy isn’t relationship material, but a good fuck … then I’ll take the good fuck.

Darbi

2. Darbi, is there any guy you would have given another chance to that you dated? Why or why not?

No, I wouldn't have because the trust had already been broken.

Minnie

3. Minnie, are you holding out hope that Ryan will ask you out or have you fantasized about others since then?

Well, if I were to say that I haven’t fantasized about others since, I’d be lying. But there is something so special about Ryan. I really do hold out hope for him, but in the interim, I fantasize about him and others.
Is that bad? *confused look*

4. Odette, does chocolate really mend a broken heart more than vanilla, strawberry or butter pecan?

Well, personally it is. However, I did some research and here are the results:
“Dark chocolate is actually a healthy source of antioxidants, provided you eat it in moderation. Even better, dark chocolate in particular may help lower stress hormones like cortisol and catecholamines, leaving you less anxious and stressed.7 This mood-boosting effect was found among those eating just 1.4 ounces a day … so you don't need to overdo it (and remember, milk chocolate and white chocolate are much higher in sugar, and may therefore have the opposite effect on your mood).”
YET, milk chocolate always helps me. So maybe it’s a mental thing, but I find tons of comfort in chocolate. Other flavors just don’t cut it.

5. Darbi, did you ever try the old fashioned way of dating prior to online? (You probably did but I just want some dirt)

Yeah I did but just wasn't getting the results I wanted.

6. Minnie, why don't you just ask Ryan out already? What's really stopping you?

I’M SCARED SHITLESS! He is FIIIIINE! You know that a-typical intimidating factor the regular person has about asking the hottie out? That’s what happens EVERY …! DAMN …! TIME …!

7. Odette, what was the real deal with the Hippie? Was it “Veggie Discrimination”?

Yes! Yes, it was. I NEED meat! No kidding. All of that “Eat veggies because Mother Earth wants you to” just doesn’t cut it for me. If Mother Earth wanted me to have a strict diet of veggies, she would have never invented cows.

8. Darbi, I like my men fine and able to move … ehem, I mean, dance. Exactly WHY did you rush out on Boyde? Just saying.

He wasn't exactly in manly form during his moves, if you know what I mean.

9. Minnie, I am wondering, did you ever bring extra panties to the office just in case the pair you were wearing got soaked through? If so, how many times did it happen?

By God yes! Almost every day I had to carry an extra set in my purse. One time, even the extra set got soaked so I was walking around with a wet crotch most of the day. Finally, I decided to try panty liners.
Wait! I wonder if that makes me some sort of undercover nympho?

10. Odette, you mentioned having been in an abusive relationship. What made you come to terms with the abuse, and decide to get out of it?

Can you believe that he only reason I got out was because he cheated on me? THAT was the only reason why. Had I not discovered his infidelity I might have still been in that relationship. It was like he had some sort of power over my mind to make me think that I was always wrong and he was right. Even when I knew I was right.
How weird is that? Craziness.

11. Darbi, we all have flaws, none of us is perfect. Had Ade not been a phony, having been upfront with you from the beginning, do you think you would've gone forward with that potential relationship?

No, I don't think I would have. I do have a weight requirement as it pertains to a guy. I can't be concerned with whether his body weight is going to crush me or not.

12. Minnie, roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, Ryan is too. So, how many times did you eat him up in your imagination?

Ball parking it? Oh, at least 3 to 4 times a day. In different ways and different scenarios. Sometimes it was right there at the office on my desk in front of everyone.
