I tend to lose focus ... a lot.
I am inclined to believe that part of the problem is that I do too much ... ALL! THE! TIME! But, I'm also sort of thinking that my mind just doesn't have enough storage and/or memory space.
Basically, like one of these ↓.
That of course, doesn't take away from the fact that I try every day to stay on track. However, I have another problem. It is tunnel vision.
It's a fact. I suffer from severe tunnel vision. Mostly, because I always want to finish what I've started. That is due to the fact that I feel like if I don't finish said project right then and there, I won't have time to do it later, or I'll just forget. 'Cause I have a bad memory too.
Sheesh ... I have a whole lot of problems, now that I think about it.
Anywho, I was asked this ...
When you lose focus, how do you address it? Do the ways you address the loss of focus prove to be effective?
It's funny that I should have been asked this question because I don't really know how I address it.
All I know is this ... I've always had the "let's get it done" mentality, be it for good or bad. I've just always thought that if there is a job to do, then it must be done. Period. Sometime, I falter in that I don't really give much thought about a "game plan" or anything like that, I just tackle each problem and/or job as it arises.
Here is where it gets tricky.
Member how I said that I also have a bad memory?
Yeah, well .. sometimes I get so caught up in what I'm doing (the whole tunnel vision thing) that when I'm done with that and it's time to tackle the next project, I can't remember what it is. Then I walk around looking like this ...
Yes, I've tried the whole "making To-Do lists" and "scheduling things" and even "managing my time" but it seems that no matter what things I do to organize myself, life gets in the way, completely knocking me off balance.
Although, I do what I can in order to stay on track and put all of my energies and what little focus I have towards that, by the middle of the day I'm like this.

Suffice it to say that the ways I address the lack of focus, aren't always the most effective.
So I suppose the important question is:
What things do I think will serve to help you stay focused on tasks, particularly with important assignments?
Let's see here, I've tried ...
- To-Do Lists and Check Lists; don't always work.
- Calendar Notices; don't always work.
- Making a weekly/daily schedule; don't always work.
- An agenda; doesn't always work.
What more can there be? Lord forbid I tie a thread around my finger, I might forget what I did it for. I guess my biggest dilemma is the fact that I tend to come down hard on myself whenever something falls through the cracks. Trust me when I tell you that I'm harder on myself than any body else could be. I get so angry at myself, and then consider throwing in the towel. Yet, I don't. Why? Because too many people depend on me.
I guess what I'm saying is I need a little help. Some advice from anyone that can help me get my focus under control and give me tips on how to keep my memory sharp. So that, eventually, I can say ...
Hello Focus! Nice to meet you!
Toodles.
Have you tried that vitamin that improves memory?
ReplyDeleteNope, I think that might be the one thing I haven't done yet.
